Da'Monica Robinson, center, is a lead teacher at Harriet Tubman School in West Oakland, Calif., and she reads aloud to pre-schoolers as a way of teaching them that it is okay to feel different emotions. With the proposed budget cuts for schools, pre-schools are likely to be the first targets for cutting funds, including Harriet Tubman School. Pre-school is important because it creates an educational foundation for children, and it allows children to grow and learn even when both parents are away at work all day.
